CTD reminds me of wal-mart. I watched the price of 32oz gatorades rise from 82 cents to 88, to 92, and then finally settle at 98 cents over the course of a month. Then the next week they had a "rollback" sign up tell me gatorade had dropped to 98 cents from 1.08. They're increasing the choco ration to 25 grams brother!

Re: Another "DEAL" from Cheaper than Dirt

Why should they lower the price on ammo? They are running a business not a charity.

They just tend to be higher than everyone else, and claim that their prices are super low. They have good stuff at decent prices, but their ammo prices are not great.

44c per rd is not what I'd call great. still gotta pay shipping.

I'll tell you who has high ammo prices is Gander Mountain, I freaking hate that store, $.60 for .45ACP.

I wonder if what we are calling high prices now are actually cheap...I guess we can look back in 12 months and find out

I've noticed the same tactics when I go to wal-mart.

But it is good to hear that they are increasing the choco ration.....

Choco is doubleplus good!

I've been a CTD customer for over 10 years, they never have been very competitive on ammo, but their prices lately are outrageous. I have not bought ammo from them for several years, once they put a blanket ban on ammo shipments to IL. Used to be just Crook County, but they expanded the ban to the entire state a few years ago.

There are some fair deals at CTD, but overall, there are better deals elsewhere.

I've got a feeling you're right. I think the 7.62X54R stuff is going to explode in price as well. These spam cans of 440 for a hundred bucks or so will look like a giveaway in the near future.

They're free to charge what they wish just as we're free to criticize them.

Trust me I complain about high ammo and gun prices as much as the next red blooded American however I think it would be far more productive if we would channel our frustration and rage towards the cause of our problems, not CTD not Wal-Mart but our out of control Federal Government that is screwing us and our descendants for many years to come, they are the SOLE cause of high ammo prices.

I think the vast majority of us know what has to be done. Voting, complacency, and compromise have gotten us to this point. We have never voted or compromised ourselves into a better position.

You need to check again. There is no ammo ban to IL.
I get shipments pretty regular. Sometimes items are available at good prices, other times not. Check regularly for deals, they do happen.

I'm more concerned with businesses that actually have what I want more so than a few more dollars here and there.

CTD was good in the 90's when the catalog was still B&W news paper like. Once they went glossy I paid closer attention.
A couple of years ago they got into a buying club thing like Sportsman's Guide. Pretty much did it for me, though in fairness they have (had) some decent pricing for uncommon goods.
I'm all full on shooting gear, my attention is now to my camera setup (gotta have something to do on layoff if/when it comes)
